BUILDING A BETTER WORLD, ONE COUPLE AT A TIME!

NOW ACCEPTING SPEAKING ENGAGEMENTS!

Ten easy ways to improve your relationship:

  1. Be kind. This means saying "Thank-you", "Please." "How can I help you?"
  2. Hug. Yes, research shows that people who hug feel safe and wanted.
  3. Listen when they talk. Really listen. Find out what they meant, not what they said.
  4. Do things as a couple. Together. Build memories that you can share. (plus, it is always cool to go back and see how different your memories of the same event are.)
  5. Leave your past alone. Do not answer any questions about a former partner. You are with your new partner, not your "ex-fill in the blank".
  6. Do not get sucked into each others birth families politics. Leave the sibling rivalries to the other siblings!
  7. Remember that is Her Mom you are talking about - so stop.
  8. Remember that is His Mom you are talking about – so stop.
  9. Forgive and forget. I mean forget. Do not bring it up later as “ammunition” for another fight.
  10. Fight fair. Only fight over the issue(s) – never bring up a personal failure or character flaw as a way to “win”, or you will surely lose.
