BUILDING A BETTER WORLD, ONE COUPLE AT A TIME!

NOW ACCEPTING SPEAKING ENGAGEMENTS!

Five Things you can do TODAY; to improve your relationship

1) Take a hike. Literally. Go walk, anywhere, city, town, country, park, it doesn't matter, but walk together some where. Preferably a place where the only decision you have to make is which way to turn. This rules out Wal-Mart or the Mall.

2) Eat in. I mean make a meal together (cooking shows count, if you both are trying to do what the Chef is doing!). Find the food, prepare the food, eat the food, and clean up the mess. Do this twice a week. Even invite friends, but, make sure they help!

3) Talk. To each other. Nothing to say? Go to an unusual (for you and your partner) place or event - then talk about that on the way home. Go to an Opera, or a Civil War re-enactment, or an airport for an introductory flight. Watching "LOST" does not count - no one knows enough to talk about that show.

4) Get rid of the word "but" for a day. This is a difficult one. Try it.
I really want to go, but.... You are not fat, but.... I am not mad, but... If you get your "But" out of the way (Sorry Reverend Ike!) all day - you will make more honest statements. I would do this, but...

5) Find ways to be kind to your partner. DO NOT EXPECT A REWARD FOR THIS.
The reward is the getting to be kind to someone you care about. Experts all agree, the more kind you are, the longer your relationship will last.
